Configurator and GroundControl both use the same mechanism for supervising devices. This mechanism installs a supervision certificate on the device, and a pairing record on the host. But each system prefers to maintain its own list of pairing records.
Configurator and iTunes save pairing records in /var/db/lockdown/
GroundControl saves pairing records to ~/Library/Application Support/GroundControl/Pairing Records/
If you have used the same supervision certificate for both Configurator and GroundControl, these pairing records may be interchangeable, so you can at least get iTunes to recognize a GroundControl-supervised device. Unfortunately Configurator also maintains an internal database of devices that it supervised, and it will ignore any supervised device that is not in that database.
